Osaka Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (OPMA) is an association as a local society aimed at contribution to advance of health in people increasing common interest of members and planning the sound development of the pharmaceutical industry in close collaboration and by enlightenment among members. Companies, which work in business of pharmaceutical marketing and manufacturing, and companies, which conduct the related business, participate in OPMA. (313 member companies)
OPMA tries to promptly obtain and publicize administration notices, etc., and holds a variety of lecture meetings and explanatory meetings about 50-60 times per year, constantly keeping in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare as a competent authority, and local administrative authorities which govern 6 prefectures including Osaka prefecture, in Kinki area.
1.Committee Activities
OPMA is developing proactive, lively activities to address some projects in each specialized field and is aiming at the solution in terms of the various issues and problems up to which pharmaceutical industry now faces.

2. Activities of Secretariat
(1) Information, such as administration notices, etc. providing service to member companies
In the 2009 fiscal year OPMA delivered information on law (7 cases), government ordinance (30), ministerial ordinance (88), notification (260), notice (336), clerical communication (145), and others (475), in a total of 1341 cases, on Internet every day 2 times a day. The information is computerized and has retrieval functions as database, and furthermore revision and elimination of the information, relevant information and keywords are added to the information so as to help pharmaceutical companies improve in-house business efficiency.
(2) Cooperation in and promotion of various projects in Kansai regions
OPMA cooperates in various projects related to pharmaceuticals in Kansai regions, especially working in cooperation in activities creating pharmaceuticals in the local area, especially Saito Life Science Framework and Kobe Medical Industrial Town Framework, etc. Also, OPMA holds “Industrial-academic forums for exchange opinions” concerning new seeds creating pharmaceuticals which universities, colleges, and research organizations in Kansai regions have.
